Commercial Hinged Flyscreen Door
Our hinged flyscreen door is a robust, practical option designed for commercial and high-traffic environments. It is face fitted to an existing door frame or surrounding wall surface and can be installed internally or externally, depending on the direction your existing door opens and the space available.
The screen has a white powder-coated aluminium frame and is supplied with grey PVC-coated fibreglass insect mesh as standard. A heavier-duty PVC-coated mesh is also available on request for areas where additional durability is required.
A spring closer helps the hinged flyscreen door close automatically after use, while two handles and a foot plate are supplied as standard. The screen can be manufactured with either a standard midbar or a central push plate for additional strength in higher-traffic areas.
The maximum size is 1000mm wide × 2350mm high, and the screen is available as either a DIY Kit or Made to Measure.
Why Choose This Hinged Flyscreen Door?
Designed for frequent everyday use, the hinged flyscreen door provides a simple way to screen regularly used doorways while still allowing airflow through the building.
It is particularly suitable for commercial premises, workplaces and other environments where doors may need to remain open for ventilation.
In food preparation environments, suitable insect screening can also form part of wider pest-prevention measures. GOV.UK guidance states that windows and other openings to the outside in food preparation areas should be fitted with insect-proof screens where required.
Read the GOV.UK guidance for food businesses.
Before You Order
This screen is face fit only and is fitted onto the existing door frame or surrounding wall surface. It is not supplied with a sub-frame.
Please ensure there is sufficient flat surface around the opening to accommodate the screen frame, hinges and magnetic catch.
If your existing door handle projects more than 10mm beyond the mounting surface, a sub-frame may be required to bring the screen far enough away from the handle to allow it to close correctly.
Measuring Your Hinged Flyscreen Door
Measure the width and height of the aperture in three places, including any bevelled edges, and use the smallest measurement for each.
All measurements should be supplied in millimetres (mm) as width × height.
For the standard overlap:
Width = aperture width + 20mm
Height = aperture height + 10mm
If space permits, you may increase the overlap to improve coverage around the opening. Up to 42mm may be added to each side, provided sufficient space remains for the hinges and magnetic catch.
Additional Clearance

You will also need:
- Minimum 17mm clearance for the hinges
- Minimum 11mm clearance for the magnetic catch
Do not include these additional clearances in the manufacturing dimensions you provide to us.
All screens are manufactured to the measurements supplied, with a manufacturing tolerance of ±2mm. We do not make allowances or deductions on your behalf, so please check your measurements carefully before ordering.
Please read our Hinged Door Screen measuring instructions before placing your order.
If you are unsure about measuring, fitting or whether this screen is suitable for your doorway, please contact us before ordering and we will be happy to help.
